Rebrand & Web Design for Wedding Florist Highwood Blooms
When Yorkshire Florist Emma came to me for a rebrand of her amazing wedding flower business Highwood Blooms I was thrilled. Emmas Logo didn’t give the luxury feel her floristry offering was. together we focused on creating a high end look that suited her offering and that promoted her countryside location and love of British flowers. The Brief
The main element which I would like to show is how we are inspired by English countryside or gardens and nature.
Airy, quite neutral earthy colours
As we are aiming to grow the luxury weddings, part of the business we want to be capturing romance at the heart of it.
The Issues
Current logo lacks other variations which makes it hard to use across different places.
Logo has a lot of texture and layers which make it hard to scale and to use on different colours.
The logo doesn’t scream LUXURY.
The Mood Board
This mood board just showed exactly the direction Emma wanted to go in. It was all about the countryside and the luxe living side of it. I did several options for Emma based on the mood board. One or two with flowers because well *duh* and one a more updated look of what she had as I did like the look of it. Lastly I tried something a little bit different…and it paid off as that was the design Emma loved.
Tips for creating a mood board for your designer
Pin as much as you like and then Refine it. Whatever it is that you feel pulled towards. Then once you are finished use those pins to create a new more focussed on board. If you are including fonts. Really hone in on what you like and why.
Add colour palettes. This will help the designer know what colours you like.
Add anything but logos. Do not get fixated on logos that already exist. You cant have it so its jsut a painful endeavour. Pin instead interiors, posters etc. you can add fonts or styles of logos if you really have something in mind but just remember you wont be able to have the same idea. Trust your designer to know what will work for you.
The Final Idea
The final idea was ‘The Pheasant’. In the design process I listed out the things that i thought of when i thought about the countryside and lovely country estates. The main thing that came to mind was the pheasants you see roaming the grounds. I also remembered a romantic novel i had read where the brother of the bride had got her pheasants brought in to create a certain kind of ambience. The pheasant was placed inside a cameo shape to give it that luxury shape. We chose a typeface that was bold but soft and suited the countryside feel.
I then used this branding to create Emmas new website. You can view that here.
Tips for preparing information for your website
Make sure you download galleries at websize. This will be better for website performance/speed.
Rename files. Use the venue name or significant keyword.
Mix it up. Make sure you prepare photographs with a range of ethnicities, same sex couples. If you are a hair dresser show brown hair, blonde hair etc. Make sure everyone is represented that you can.
Make sure you create material for blogs. Create articles that are helpful. % ways to… / Something you dont want to forget…
Only show the work you want. Don’t show work that you don’t want to do again.
